Ransburg Scout Reservation has employed a professional food service management company to provide quality food for Scouts and leaders. All meals are served “family style” in our Dining Hall facility.
Documents:
Your Troop will have dedicated tables in the Dining Hall assigned to you and will have selected staff that will sit with you throughout your week. All tables seat 8 people. Your SPL will be encouraged to set-up a schedule for “hoppers”. Hoppers are Scouts who you assign to set-up and clean-up your table before and after each meal. You can find a detailed schedule in our Camping Guide.
In the event that you wish to invite guests to dine with your troop at camp, meal tickets can be purchased at the camp office. Please purchase these tickets two days prior to the arrival of your guests. Meals cost $9.50.
A licensed dietitian has reviewed the menus for balanced nutrition. See the menu on the documents and downloads page.
Special Dietary Needs
We want your stay at camp to be enjoyable. If Scouts and leaders need special meal substitutes because of dietary restrictions, please complete the dietary restrictions form at least three weeks prior to your troop's arrival.
Ransburg takes pride in being able to accommodate most special dietary needs. In addition, our dining hall is a nut free facility. Scouts and Leaders with special dietary needs will get their plated meal at the special diets table in the main dining room. A staff member will be there to assist them. This meal will be cooked for them each meal. It is encouraged for a leader to come up with a younger Scout the first night to walk them through the process. In addition, leaders are encouraged to monitor Scouts with special dietary needs to ensure they are picking up their meals.
In addition, as a part of the check-in process there will be a discussion with each Scout and leader with our special diets coordinator in the Dining Hall.
Please reach out to us with any questions regarding you our your Scout’s dietary needs.
Wednesday Night Meal
Meals will not be served on Wednesday nights. It is important each troop make plans for an alternate source of food on the Wednesday night meal. Some troops, over the years, have chosen to order pizza from town and others have chosen to cook in their campsite. Special arrangements will be made to have pizzas delivered to camp for those troops wishing to order pizza. A special pizza order form will be available on Sunday. Troops should plan on a nominal fee for this pizza meal. Special arrangements can also be made to support those who wish to cook in their campsite. If you are planning to cook in your campsite on Wednesday night and need help getting the food you need, inquire in the camp office as to how we can help.
CAMPSITE COOKING OPTION
All meals are served family style in our Dining Hall. However, units who wish to cook in their campsite, rather than eat in the dining hall, can do so on a limited basis by reserving either Denali campsite or Yosemite campsite.
By electing this option, your unit will provide your own food to prepare and cook in your campsite, for all three meals daily. Food to cook is not provided if you elect this option. Fees are adjusted accordingly for the campsite cooking option in Denali and Yosemite campsites. Please refer to the Camping Guide for more information.
